the show is a complete dumpster-fire of tonality, unwilling to commit to being dark-comedy or horror, however, the idea is possibly a gem: being a more modernized version of "I have no mouth but I must scream".
what would (You) do to make the show more horror-orientated?

I've been getting into Thomas Ligotti after reading most of H.P. Lovecraft's major works. It's definitely more overtly sexual in Ligotti, but the sense of terror isn't as pertinent; instead, it feels like I'm drawn into a dream world of near madness instead. Lovecraft's intensity and suspense is great, but Ligotti makes things seem beautifully insane.
So, what is your Evil Dead 2 Canon? I think the scene right before we get the shot of Ash flying is a dream sequence and deadites changed the cabin a bit to play with Ash's mind.
